brindille
ruled by Regalien Chauncey de Griffon
next in line; Crown Legataire Brahms de Griffon, Legataire Apollinaris de Griffon
Brindille, so named for their many forests ('brindille' coming from the Brindellan word meaning 'branch'), is an inland country that shares a border on one side with Burya and on the other with Rossore. They have a generally temperate climate and are thick with native wildlife. Hunting is good in Burya and reportedly easy. Their wildlife mostly consists of larger herbivores, including elk, deer, moose, and other related ungulates, but there's enough space to support populations of many smaller mammals as well. A majority of their birds are protected by wildlife laws put into place by King Chauncey, as many of the species live only in Brindille.
Their capital city Bois is located in the heart of the country and a good many hours from any border. Brindille is a large country but not a particularly wealthy one, though many people travel from across the world to visit. Their royal family is very well-known, for both legataires (in the common language referred to as 'princes') are handsome and popular and the younger legataire, Apollinaris, is particularly favored. He's prized for throwing lavish parties that he opens to the public, but his usual purpose is to lure his noble 'friends' into the capital so he can properly manipulate them.
His elder brother, Brahms, is due to take the throne, and possibly soon as their father Regalien Chauncey has been sick for a few years. Brahms is wisely considered the more responsible brother and him and Apollo absolutely do not get along. Chauncey's failing health is public knowledge, and a matter of anxiety for the Brindillen citizens. Most quietly worry over Brahms and Apollo bickering themselves into a civil war.
It was recently divulged to the public (via a gloating Brahms) that Apollo is in a romantic relationship with two lower-class citizens. One a solider, the other a mercenary, and both foreigners. Apollo did not react to this outing as Brahms expected and embraced the rumors, and has earned some affection for his honesty from their people. He is less shy about PDA with Orpheus and Kazuki now.
Bois Castle is where the majority of the country's nobles live, and also the primary location of Apollo's famous parties. The city of Bois itself is a sprawling establishment, split between people with money and people without. The lower ring of the city is awash with crime, and difficult to get out of. Most folks who are born there die there. Apollo shows no particular interest in this part of the country, but Kazuki does and so Apollo has begrudgingly (and lazily) put into effect a law that would provide funds to pair adolescents from the lower ring to skilled mentors in the upper.
The national language is Brindellan.
