I know you
I walked with you once upon a dream
theme song;; Once Upon A Dream by Lana Del Ray
personality;;
Clytemnestra makes a good, if not unusual, queen. Her mother Hecuba raised her in the fortress of the capital and thus Cly had little interaction with kids her age and anybody else, apart from the castle staff and the queen's council, for the entire length of her childhood. Her father died when she was very young and she doesn't remember him, but she hears the whispers from the staff of his temperament, her mother's mysterious involvement in his death, her mother's subsequent ascension to the throne. Still, Hecuba remains an enormous part of Cly's life, and she's never let the gossip bother her. She's very physically affectionate, always touching people, laying her arms over their shoulders or touching their hands or offering to braid their hair. She's got a little bit of a restless personality, her hands always moving, her fingers fidgeting with something or another. Clytemnestra is super optimistic; she inherited this despite her mother's natural pessimism and retains her bright-eyed spirit to this day.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Cly is very naive. She spent the majority of her childhood hidden away in a castle, sequestered from her peers and distant family, and she didn't experience much outside her fellow royals. So she has little understanding for how a 'commoners' life functions, and is always surprised learning something new. (She's that rich girl in your class that doesn't know how to work a washing machine, in other words.) She's a little socially awkward, in that she tends to be a tad more exuberant than necessary, and she has a difficult time separating manners from genuine enthusiasm. She has a terrible queen mask, meaning that she is often quite easy to read in diplomatic situations. She's been working on this lately but it takes a surprising amount of effort. Clytemnestra can rarely be worked up to anger but she's easily excited, and can be nudged to yelling about something she loves with a few words.

I know you
that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
occupation;;
Mikena's new queen Clytemnestra's mother Hecuba only recently stepped down as queen and subsequently Cly inherited the throne. She's been groomed for this position since she was a child, so the rank doesn't intimidate or impress her, and she's confident with what she's doing. She's familiar with the people she surrounds herself with, the council that she goes to for aid or advice, as she's grown up with many of them and helped her mother hire the younger few. She is a patient queen and listens to anyone who has an opinion to voice, but she does sometimes tire of people arguing over her. She still relies some on her mother; Hecuba has been awarded the title of Queen Mother, and retains a great deal of power in the kingdom. While Cly is generally obedient to the whims of her council, she sometimes does whatever she'd like; and that included the hiring of both Medea and Bahiti. |
