the sea
ruled by Pirate Queen Baozhai "Xia"
The pirates go wherever their hearts or wallets desire but for the most part Solomon's ship remains between Rossore and Hechiz, and Baozhai's off the Buryan coast. That is not to say they never see one another, and actually the two crews often meet up at one of Zenobia's many ports. Zenobia is prized for their open markets, and many of the merchants there are willing to overlook an expensive item's origins.
Baozhai and Solomon's ships remain by far the most recognizable vessels on the sea, with distinctive flags. There are some islands and bays that are generally considered places of truce among pirates, where it is disallowed or at least very rude to fight. Solomon and Baozhai get along well enough, and have before sided with the other in matters of international conflict. There is some modicum of respect for Captain Xia on every ship they encounter, for everyone has heard her name and knows her reputation.
Baozhai maintains treatises with both Burya and Mikena, and keeps other pirates out of her way by giving them generous payoffs. Most everyone on the sea is aware of her relationship with Burya's heir Katya, and her presumed loyalty to the country by extension.
Nyiri maintains a more subtle presence at sea, and cannot reliably be found anywhere. He is constantly on the move, always hiring and firing crew here and there, sweeping into ports for mere hours at a time before he once more disappears. There's little information on the man, with the exception of Ellerbee being his son. Ellerbee is by far the ship's friendlier face and the best bet if you want to strike a deal.
Nyiri primarily deals in rare and unusual artificacts but he's not above taking commissions to ferry someone or run bizarre errands. He is often hired to find specific items, which are his favorite sort of assignments.
It is widely acknowledged that Baozhai's heir is her adopted son Jaibrien, and that Solomon's is his adopted kid Zyron. Neither crews have met recently; they haven't had much of a chance to trade stories or secrets, but if they had they would realize that Jaibrien and Zyron know one another. They came from the same place, though escaped at different opportunities.
