I wrestled long with my youth
we tried so hard to live in the truth
theme song;; Hopeless Wanderer by Mumford & Sons
personality;;
Vassilios is King Diomedes' one surviving heir, and for the majority of his life he's lived in the capital castle. He knows consciously that Diomdes is his father; but he's never really liked the man, not with the way Diomedes treated him, and he attached himself promptly to Fiorello when he was wed to the king. He considers Fiorello his actual father, and is as physically affectionate with him as he is with all his friends. The wide assumption, and the one that Diomedes pushed the hardest, was that Vassilios was a clone of his father. That he thought the same way, held the same values; that he'd make a fine heir to Diomedes' throne for he was just as frightening and cruel and stoic. But the reason Vassilios was kept out of the public eye is because he is nothing like that at all--because he is sweet, and rather shy, and so ignorant of the way the world works that he is tremendously gullible to any and everyone. He has never agreed with his father's violent tendencies, and is turned off entirely by blood and fights.
Fiorello kept him from his father as must as he possibly could, but Vassilios knows that evil lurks in some people, and he knows what it looks like in someone's eyes. This has somehow not affected his willingness to trust strangers. He was quick to trust Maggie upon meeting him, though this proved to be good intuition as Maggie took a knife to the arm to pull Vas out of harm's way. Maggie has since taken to mother-henning him, which Vas is charmed by. Apart from Fio Vas never really had anyone that took care of him to the extent that Maggie does. Vas is terrible at pretty much everything the gang actually does (he doesn't have the stomach for crime, and he's a terribly unconvincing liar), so mostly he just hangs out at the headquarters and has his time split between Maggie and Firefly. He is very fond of both boys, and has quietly worked the two of them into his plans to get home to the capital and to Fio. Both being orphans, Vas is determined to take them to the castle and give them their own wings.

but do not tell me all is fine
when I lose my head, I lose my spine
occupation;;
a cog in Magpie's smoothly running kid gang currently undercover with the name "Basil" Vassilios isn't anybody special in Maggie's gang. He doesn't have a rank or a title, and frankly he doesn't really do that much; but all the other kids know him anyway, because Maggie and by extension Hotaru are so overly protective of Basil. Vassilios is almost always with either one or both of them, and is never left alone. If both of them have to do something and can't for any reason bring Vas, they recruit some of the more trustworthy members to keep an eye on him. Maggie gets snappish when anyone gives him attitude about his mother-henning Vas, but for the most part Vas doesn't ever see this part of the boy. He's kept away from most of the gang's regular haunts, for Maggie fears someone will recognize and try to take him; so mostly he stays at the gang's hide-out, and establishes a meticulous plan for a way of getting home and finding Fio. |
trivia;;
-late King Diomedes' last surviving heir; widely assumed kidnapped/ransomed -considers Fiorello more of a dad than he ever did Diomedes -trying to get back to Fiorello right now but he's gotta be careful because people, assuming he's like his dad, want to hurt him tba |
