there's a rider on the road
there's calamity a-waiting to unfold
theme song;; Starwatcher by The Decemberists
personality;;
If Zyanya touches someone, she can glean the scope of their minds. Unsurprisingly she is not fond of being touched, and twists away from strangers who try it. The exceptions she makes are for her brother Qui and their best friend Grey; both are people she's so innately familiar with already that whatever glimpses she can catch from their thoughts won't surprise or bother her. She largely keeps to herself due to her unstable powers, and is reluctant to make new friends despite the boys' urging. She is a quiet girl, unattached to the limelight, inclined naturally to keeping her head down. Hechiz is a superstitious country and Zan fits the bill for people that they once upon a time may have executed, so it is to her benefit that she keeps her powers to herself.
Her brother surprised her when he challenged the previous Tlatoani to the role, though she quickly understood his purpose in it. (When she went to clasp his hand and wish him a good fight she say a peek of his darkest desires: safety for his sister, for their best friend. Power singularly to protect those weaker than him.) Zan dislikes her brother being Tlatoani only because they don't spend as much time together anymore, and also because the fight took a toll on him. He limps still, despite Zan easing his mind's attachment to the idea of pain, and he flinches from unexpected contact. She tries to be the best sister imaginable so he will never regret his decision, though she knows better than most that he won't. Still, Zan is obedient only to Qui, and would do anything her brother asked of her.
