laugh until we think we'll die
barefoot on a summer night
never could be sweeter than with you
theme song;; Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes
[alt song;; I Don't Think About You Anymore But I Don't Think About You Any Less by Hungry Ghosts]
personality;;
Orpheus is shy and easily intimidated and so painfully kind that he's sometimes hard to be around. He expects greatness from everybody he meets but not in that overwhelming way parents or teachers favor; rather he inspires people with nothing but a shy smile and a gentle touch. Orpheus is fairly helpless when left to his own devices, and dislikes being alone for very long, although he does cherish the solitude he finds in his gardens in the dead of night. Still, that is loneliness he is choosing; if he's forced into being alone he dislikes it. He favors people who have a similar attitude to him although he also falls into the trapping of trying to find people to fix, which inevitably turns ugly. Orpheus devotes his entire self when he decides to do something, whether it's a project or a relationship, so things that end messy break his heart. Orpheus hates failing and feels deep shame when he does, the remnants of teachings from strict parents.
Still, he believes in the beauty of the world and is confident that good things happen to good people, even if they have to suffer through some bad things first. He's nearly always in a good mood, and he works hard to maintain it; he ignores those who offer negative comments and thinks instead of things that make him happy, even when it's dreary or when Orpheus should have nothing to smile about. He's wowed by little things, especially pretty, gold things; he's amazed by fancy and ancient things as well and has a soft spot for ruins of any kind. Orpheus is always there to offer a helping hand, for absolutely anything; he doesn't mind volunteering his time and he's selfless enough that he'll give up doing something he loves to help someone else. This can sometimes be detrimental to him, if Orpheus gets involved in people who take advantage of him, but he has friends that work to keep him safe nowadays. He loves deeply his bird Lyra and is only ever separated from her if he is working in the garden at night.

home, let me come home
home is wherever I'm with you
occupation;;
gardener and estate manager for Rossore's capital castle Orpheus has a way with plants, and his three years at the castle have proved it. He got a job working in the garden and quickly moved up through the ranks because he's simply so good at keeping things alive, and he's got an eye for aesthetically pleasing things so he's wondrously talented at making a garden beautiful too. His job has kind of expanded over the years; he's now the head of the gardening section and of the estate as well, which means he manages the castle grounds. Ultimately a great deal of the decisions of the castle are left up to him, including things that are actually important like road decisions and wells. Zevi trusts him though, and Orpheus listens carefully to the council to make well-educated decisions when he is called upon. Mostly he lives in his small house and cares for the garden though. pets;; Orpheus has one pet, a scarlet macaw named Lyra. He actually inherited her from his grandmother when she died when he was sixteen, and he's had Lyra ever since. They do absolutely everything together. Lyra is incapable of flight as she was clipped too aggressively when she was young, and so she'll never learn now. She doesn't mind though; she accompanies Orpheus most everywhere, and rides frequently on his shoulder or walks at his heels. She keeps him company in the garden a lot, and is a staple of his room. She sleeps in an enormous cage that takes up 80% of the width of his bedroom, but he says only that she deserves the best. Frankly, he spoils her. |
trivia;;
-sings to plants! he believes it makes them grow bigger and better -he has a soft, sweet singing voice (his mother named him Orpheus for his cries as a newborn were exceptionally lovely) -he was born in New York City and moved to Rossore three years ago -Zevi is his best friend and they hang out all the time -Lyra is his bird and he loves her so much it's almost painful -he has a surprisingly high pain tolerance and has some low sensitivity, especially in his hands -he keeps Lyra on his shoulder when he's in the castle, or on his forearm -when they're out in the garden he lets Lyra meander along on the ground -he loves repairing plants that have been poorly taken care of -he literally loves everyone he meets, but if Lyra doesn't trust someone he doesn't either (that's a good thing because Orpheus has a terrible ability to read people) -he always wears one of Willow's shed feathers on a necklace |
