personality;;
Maggie grew up on the streets, and it has fundamentally changed the boy he's become. He's distrusting but covers it with an overbearing flair, and he holds a natural disdain for anyone that has never lived the hard life like he has. He considers folks who live in houses to be miserably unprepared for the way life really is. He would never admit that he wonders sometimes what it's like to have a home like that, to have someplace to go and not have to worry about anything. Maggie doesn't know where he came from and he has no idea where his name came from either; but he knows he's always been Magpie, and he mostly insists on people calling him Maggie. Some kids in the gang don't even know that his name is actually Magpie, for how infrequently it's used. He's very smart and has developed a veritable language of codewords that all the kids use, and he's very protective over everyone in his gang. They are primarily orphans and runaways, and he considers them his. He is sometimes playfully called "momma Maggie".
He's quick to join in a physical fight, but he has no patience for verbal ones. He hates backing down or giving up, and will urge an argument into a scuffle just to get it over with. He is submissive to no one. He took the gang over from the previous leader when he was all of ten, and that's just the way it's been from then on. He can't imagine having someone else tell him what to do at this point in his life. The sheer notion of being obedient to parents enrages him. Maggie has a soft spot only for the other kids, and also stray animals. Despite their food situation (the gang relies mostly on stealing food or attending homeless shelters for meals) he will always share a meal with a stray dog or cat. There's quite a few that regularly come around, and will sleep with the kids when the weather gets cold. Maggie has a good eye for adults he can manipulate, and is something of a little actor. He's skilled at getting what he wants.

occupation;;
leader of a scrappy street gang When King Diomedes was in power, there was a rash of unexpectedly orphaned children. Diomedes was quick to execute those people he disagreed with, and so inevitably he tore a great many families apart. Maggie has been on the street for as long as he can remember, and in this particular gang since he was little more than a toddler. He's been running it for four years, and Hotaru, or "Firefly" as the crew calls him, has been his confidant for three. Some kids come and go, but mostly it is comprised of the few that have always been in it. Sometimes they lose a kid to a crime, or to the cops; but there's always more kids to bring in, especially since King Diomedes was executed and the majority of his supporters fled. The latter left behind kids of their owns, kids that bore their parents' crimes and needed to find a place to lay low. Maggie accepts them without bias, for he knows they have nowhere else to go and he understands how that feels. Recently he found and saved Vassilios, and earned the boy's trust when he took a knife to the arm to pull him out of harm's way. He's especially protective over Vassilios now, as the boy is so innocent and ignorant of the world. pets;; Fondly called the only lady he could ever rely on, Maggie's got a hooded crow 'pet' named Grasshopper. He's had her for a couple years but she isn't always his pet; she leaves of her own will, and returns when she wants to. He loves her nonetheless. |
trivia;;
-grew up on the streets in a little kid street gang that did a lot of stealing -he's just the smallest thief really -has no idea who his parents are or why they abandoned him -good at manipulating adults into giving him money and stuff to pawn -very protective over his gang; has a lot of scars from fights spent saving them -found and took in Vassilios -he knows who Vassilios really is (old king Diomedes' one true heir) and so calls Vassilios "Basil" and keeps his head down -Vassilios is desperate to return to his adopted dad, the now king Fiorello, and Maggie expects Vassilios will ask him to come with -Maggie still doesn't know how he feels about that offer tbh -Hotaru "Firefly" is his right hand guy |
