rise if you're sleeping, stay awake
we are young supernovas and the heat's about to break
theme song;; High Hawk Season by The Mountain Goats
personality;;
Yayauhqui was a quiet kid, and spent most of his time with his little sister Zan. He never had a head for politics; he largely ignored whatever Hechiz was up to with their neighbours, because he was about as far removed from any drama as someone could possibly be. He did not buy into his country's superstitions, though that is likelier due to his little sister's abilities. He is fiercely protective of her, his ire roused only when she's put on the line. Largely he is level-headed and unbothered by gossip or rumors. It's difficult to get under his skin, the one exception being if someone threatens Zan. He has a good sense of humor and doesn't mind being the butt of jokes, though since he's claimed the title of Tlatoani he's lost the majority of his friends. He does have to play act at being superior and solemn now, for the purpose of maintaining his power, though he dislikes the standoffish role.
The friends that stuck with him are his sister Zan and his oldest friend Peregrine "Grey". Grey is one of the few people that continue to roast him since he's become Tlatoani; there's never been a power difference between them, and there never will be. Qui is always relieved when Grey treats him the same as he always did, what with everyone else walking on eggshells around his throne. In truth, Qui's purpose in recklessly challenging for the throne was only to protect his sister. His people are superstitious and afraid of what they don't understand, and they have never understood Zan. They've been close since they were very little, and Qui has never feared Zan's powers. The three of them (Grey, Qui and Zan) are inseparable friends and likely always will be.
